The Pas Humane Society Success Stories

Here's a couple pictures of Bailey (Baby). She's still wonderful! She LOVES the kids, and everybody and every thing she meets. She loves to go run with our other dog and the quad in the field, and then rides really well on it when she needs a rest from running! She's growing like a weed and goes in next week to be spayed.

Cloud's new family called to say that she is doing well and has settled right in. You may remember she was the tiny kitten who was injured when she was brought to us and still had some problems with her mobility but her forever family fell in love her and took her home anyway. She first established who was boss with the resident canine family member and then claimed the whole house as her domain. Due to the fact the her new home is on two levels, her family were concerned that she might not be able to manage the stairs so they made sure all of her wants were on the one level. Her first night, after her 'children' were in bed, she was snuggled on her 'dad's lap when she got up, stretched, gave him an apologetic look and then hopped down and disappeared. He followed her only to find that she had managed the stairs quite nicely and was settled down in bed with her 'children' keeping a watchful eye on their sleep.

Just wanted to let you know Buddy and Honey are doing fine! They are inseparable and love to cuddle on their custom-made couch in front of the picture window and survey their kingdom. They are looking forward to Christmas because they know they have been very good dogs...they must have been because there are tons of presents with their names on them under the tree.

Maskwa is a 2 month old Lab X that was found crying and shivering in a snowbank. Thanks to some very caring people from an uptown business, he is warm and happy and just needs his forever home. He will wag for food, hugs and well...he will wag just because he thinks you might be his new best friend. Please give him a home.

Very large lab/rotweiller cross,
probably 90 lbs, 30 inches at the shoulder is being fostered temporarily but
is looking for a home. He needs training very badly and needs an owner that
has dealt with problem dogs. Would not recommend for a family with
children. In foster care and possibly will be adopted.

Beano is a beautiful snow white 12 wk old puppy with ultra-soft short fur and gorgeous brown eyes. She is already well on her way to being house-trained, comes when she is called, knows how to sit on command and has excellent house-manners. Beano is very friendly and good with children. She is being fostered by a wonderful family who are responsible for the terrific little puppy that she is but they can only keep her until Christmas. Please, there is still time to find a home for this wonderful little pup before the holiday season.

Sugar…6 month old neutered male. Very playful sleek silver tiger stripe short hair. Very playful, intelligent and would make a wonderful, lively friend.

Dash is a 3 month old Lab cross male puppy that just can't stay still if he sees a smiling face. Two very kind men found him huddling outside the Grub Box, trying to find food and stay warm but having no success at either. They were unable to keep him but would have loved to do so. He is one great little pup, please give Dash his forever home.

Oreo is a 5 month old terrier cross male puppy that is just the sweetest little guy. Rescued from the cold, he was in real distress but is much happier now. He listens well, comes when you whistle and will do anything to please you. He would be a small dog and perfect for someone looking for a lap dog.

Cookie is a 4 month old terrier cross male puppy who has a face only a mother could love. Full of sparkling intelligence, good humour and wanting to trust you, he hasn't had much to base his love of people on in his short life but he still searches your eyes, hoping. He is small, with a short soft coat that wasn't any protection from the cold and he would have died if he wasn't rescued. Maybe you are the person he is looking for?

Bear is adopted as well...to a couple from Alberta. They saw him on the website and fell in love with him. But...we need a ride for Bear to Dauphin this weekend to meet up with his forever Mom and Dad! Could you put an emergency notice asking for a ride for Bear. They have very kindly offered to pay for the gas and Bear is very well behaved in a vehicle so all we need is a way to get him down there.

Bear is a 2 year old Newfoundland X male that has been with the society for a little while now. He is gentle and cuddly but his his size makes it hard to find a home for him. Bear doesn't act like a 'big' dog...just the opposite...he loves car rides, A&W french fries (Bear would like to say Hello to his friends at the drive-through), going for sedate walks (hopefully with a stop at the A&W) and snuggling on the couch. Sure he's a big boy but that's just more to love.
We have limited space at the shelter and Bear desperately needs either a foster home or his forever home.

Fostered......Mutt is the quiet brother...the strong silent type. He and his brother Jeff deserve a quiet life.

Roxy is adopted to a very kind lady in Denare Beach who spotted him on our website and drove all the way down to The Pas give him a good home with her.

Tigger aka Kali has found his forever home and is working on his keyboarding skills. He was gettting quite skilled at the shelter office and we are sure he will be a talented writer when he grows up :)

2 month old male dsh with a beautiful brown and black striped coat. He has a gorgeous 'ocelot' pattern of black spots and a striking oriental face. 'Sly' is a stand-out' and if you are looking for a one of a kind, then he is your kitten.

Monty: 2 year old male terrier cross. Monty is clean, lovable and has loads of personality. He is highly intelligent and loves to snuggle, go for walks or just generally hang out with you. He is an excellent listener and focuses on every word you say. If you are looking for someone to talk to and someone to sound the alarm if need be, Monty is the dog for you.

eyes. She is tiny and sad, and gets lost in amongst the big cats. She needs a home right away!

She has been fostered by Leslie for the last 5 months. She is a gentle dog, looking for a forever home.

Male long-haired cat. He's just beautiful and
we think he knows it, too! He's about 4-5 years old.
Neutered.

Gayle…2 yr old spayed female, longhaired Persian-type cat. She was found abandoned and starving in the bush and will need a lot of grooming to bring her snow white coat back to its potential. She is loving and gentle and tends to mother all the little cats and kittens. She just needs someone to give all her love to.

5 month male old black lab x with jet black hair, a sparkling
white bib and the waggiest tail you've ever seen. He is a big boy already
at 45 lbs and will get bigger yet but he is gentle and just wants to please
you. if you have the room for a big boy with a loving heart, please call us
about Bib.

She's Cocoa's pup. She's a gentle girl who
adores pats. She's big on giving kisses.

is an adorable 4 month old female Retriever x with
soft golden hair and a bubbly personality. She is so sweet and shows
promise of being very smart and easy to train.

Pillow…9 month old neutered male. As his name suggests, he feels like a downy soft pillow. He is good natured, loves to play and snuggle. He gets along well with all the other animals in the shelter and is very gregarious.

Oscar…2 yr old male, neutered, handsome silver tabby, he is curious and clever. He likes to explore and would make a good mouser.

Pearly…18 month old spayed female. Pearly is a cuddler. She likes nothing better than to purr and cuddle on someone’s lap at every opportunity. She has a very sweet disposition and proves that some cats just aren’t aloof at all.

Honey, 19 month old female, not spayed Collie cross. Honey was rescued
just days before she had a litter of 4 puppies. It is unlikely any
would have survived if she hadn't been found by a kind person and given
to the Society. Honey and her puppies are doing fine now thanks to a wonderful young
lady and her partner who took on the mammoth task of fostering Momma and babies.

Casper, 20 month old terrier, Australian Shepherd cross. Casper is now
neutered and is one of the nicest dogs you could meet. His looks are
strikingly unusual and we guarantee you won't find another like him.
While nature has gifted him with an unusual set of looks, it has also
given him the biggest, kindest heart imaginable. He is a good listener,
never judges and can carry on a wonderful conversation (He talks).

Peanut 2, 4 month old husky, shepherd cross Peanut is a great, happy
little
guy who really needs to be taken in by a loving home. He is fun and
full of life at 4 months old and loves, camping, car rides and other
animals.

Spook…1 yr old neutered deaf male, sparkling white shorthair, happy, friendly would be very receptive to a loving home with an affectionate family.

3 mos old black with cream markings husky cross male puppy.
Scotty is quiet and lovable and desperately needs a friend to look after
him. He is going to be a handsome dog and a good buddy.

Misty- Owner found-Female puppy. Has a nice collar, so she is someone's pet.

Owner found-Chico, Chihuahua male, approx. 6 months old, black and tan, won't sit still for picture

Found around the Alouette Hotel. She was pretty scared. Cute little girl. Look at her feet, and she even has little tuffs on her bum. Donald Duck really would really fall for her! If you know of anyone missing a little dog like this, send them down to the office. She needs her real home.

Ziggy: Adopted 6 wk old male kitten, he is feisty and outgoing. Ziggy is snow-white with an unusual dove-grey patch in the centre of his head. He has been rescued by a caring family and fostered but now is ready to be adopted. He can be found sunning himself in the window of the Humane Society when he takes a break from turning somersaults and scattering the toys.

Marmelade: Adopted 9 month old male not neutered orange tiger-stripe DSH. Marmelade loves to play and would make a very good companion as well as being a good mouser. He enjoys chasing fast moving objects like squeaky toys, bell-balls and other cats’ tails.

Bigfoot…5 yr old neutered male, very unique, he has 6 toes on his feet. He is quiet and prefers to be left alone. He would need a home where he would be the only pet and could take time to adjust to his new surroundings.

Zebra…Adopted 4 yr old male, silver shorthair with dramatic black “zebra” stripes. He is another cat who has spent most of his life at the shelter waiting for a good person to take him home and give him the love he needs to help him adjust to life in the outside world.

Adult domestic Short hair, Male, Tortoise shell, named Fergie.
Beautiful cat, rescued by caring family but they cannot keep him.
Fergie is shy and would prefer a home without other animals. Is not
adapting well to shelter life and needs a home ASAP.

Odin Adopted
Medium sized, blonde ten month old male dog. Short haired, big brown eyes,
lovely blonde eyelashes. Odin is a strikingly handsome young canine. He
loves to play ball, as well as play with his kennel buddy, Scamp and even
the cats in the shelter. Well suited to a home already containing a pet.
Very energetic, loves to go for a jog, walks, car rides and loves anything
involving people. He is quiet but shows promise as a home guardian.

Shaggy lives in a house made out of bales behind the Humane Society. The pledge-a-thon should help build better kennels for these animals. Mother's Day was special for her as she gave birth to 10 puppies. There are nine left.

Shaggy and her puppies were taken in by the Winnipeg Humane Society.
Leslie delivered the dogs personally to them. They have all been adopted out.

J.J: Adopted 6 month old yellow lab. J.J. is a rescue puppy that now just needs a family to care for him. He is a beautiful retriever-type dog that shows promise of being a easily trainable, very willing worker. He has a great sense of fun and loves to play. A typical frisky pup, he plays for all he is worth then flops at your feet and sleeps like a log. One look into his gorgeous eyes and you will find the companion you’ve been looking for.

She is making a lady named Rose very happy now!

Marbles…2 yr old Tortoiseshell spayed female, medium hair length coat, very friendly and laid-back. Just needs someone to love. ADOPTED

Popcorn and Bindi ADOPTED …6 wk old female kittens, medium length coats, adorable and playful, very well socialized due to being handfed by caring volunteers, they are now healthy and vibrant and ready to go.

Snowflake…18 month old spayed female. Very calm, cuddly, very good with children. Would love to have a home with kids to play with and snuggle.

Pam…7 month old spayed female. Extremely shy, feral would need a very patient caring owner to teach her to trust again.

Sassy…adult female cat, medium length hair, new to the shelter, she is having trouble adjusting to the noise of her temporary home. She would be much better in a home environment.

Squeak…ADOPTED tiny 5 wk old female kitten. Surrendered to Humane Society after owner was unable to keep. She is so tiny, she gets lost in with the other cats but she tries her best to keep up. She needs the TLC that she deserves.

Scamp
Small blonde female 3 month old puppy that was abandoned at the shelter.
Very friendly and playful, would do well with a family that included kids
and or other pets. Minimal grooming and shedding, will most likely grow to
be a small to medium dog. Good companion who enjoys walks and just
generally hanging out with people.
